Because he often did that from the second level people were calling him a linebacker, but that doesn't really matter. Mapu was essentially employed to cover Dalton Kincaid on passing downs against the Bills. I'd like to avoid that route again, but really, talent trumps all. We've kind of been there, done that recently with a quarterback who has to overcome some innate physical disadvantages. Michael Penix is another one of my early favorites for obvious reasons if you watched the National Semifinal. Jayden Daniels is electric but I think players like him are a lot more hit or miss. It's just a matter of him learning to put them all consistently to use within the structure of an NFL offense. At this point I'm really interested in Drake Maye because he has all the physical tools, somewhat like Josh Allen and Justin Herbert did. The up and down nature of Justin Fields is the latest example and sometimes, as we're seeing with Fields, there's no easy answer. That said, I'd rather take a thrower I have to train to understand an NFL offense, than a runner I need to train to play in an NFL passing offense. Not sure it's so this or that, I think just about every quarterback needs some mobility these days and most do, they're almost all really good athletes. Maybe these last handful of weeks sitting behind Zappe can help reset him. As Bill said last year, "Mac can play In this league," but I think he's got a lot of work to do to get back on track and break the bad habits that he's developed. After how hard the last two years were on Mac, I think that's what's in his best interest. My gut is that the team will be amendable to finding him a fresh start somewhere, even if they were not receiving trade compensation. I really don't know what to expect with Mac this offseason. In my opinion, just those little questions were enough to bump Lance into the fifth, especially if there were other suitors interested. Everyone could agree he has all the tools but injuries that have led to a simple lack of football playing time have never let him truly find a stride in the NFL. There's still an element of unknown with Lance, just like there was when he was coming out. Lance fetched a fourth-round pick, but I'd agree that Mac would probably be a fifth or sixth rounder at best because of the larger sample size of his play.

Through analysing the lyrics of hip-hop artists, I argue that Yahoo Boys are a reflection of Nigerian society and that hip-hop artists, with all their flaws, are often simply attempting to hold a mirror up to these complicated times in Nigeria. In my study, I concluded that as the world staunchly condemns Yahoo Boys it should also consider the social environment from which they have emerged. While many Nigerian hip-hop artists glamorise Yahoo Boys, some also condemn them. In a recently published paper I tried to unpack the complexity of the relationship between Nigerian musicians and Yahoo Boys by analysing hip-hop lyrics that feature the cyber fraudsters. This landscape includes cyber-criminals, commonly known as “Yahoo Boys” – the people who set up fake internet accounts with the express intention of defrauding their victims. Yea, this album is dedicated to all the teachers that told me I’d never amount to nothing, to all the people that lived above the buildings that I was hustling in front of that called the police on me when I was just trying to make some money to feed my daughter.Ĭurrent Nigerian hip-hop artistes also reflect on socioeconomic realities in their songs, performances and records. The late rapper, Notorious B.I.G., summarised a part this succinctly in his song “Juicy”: These mainly involve gang violence, street hustling and thug life. In the US, for example, most American hip-hop and rap songs are also a reflection of the artistes’ living experiences and social communities. Singers use artistic conventions to construct marketable music personas. Amid concerns for Simon's idleness, Columbia Records chairman Clive Davis arranged for up-and-coming record producer John Simon to kick-start the recording. Artists at the time were expected to release two, perhaps three albums each year and the lack of productivity from the duo worried executives at Columbia Records. He had hit a dry spell in his writing, which led to no Simon & Garfunkel album on the horizon for 1967. Simon began work for Bookends around this time, noting to a writer at High Fidelity that "I'm not interested in singles anymore". Similarly, they recorded "At the Zoo" for single release in early 1967 (it charted lower, at number 16). ĭuring the sessions for Parsley, the duo cut " A Hazy Shade of Winter" and decided to release it as a single then, where it peaked at number 13 on the national charts. The duo chose William Morris as their booking agency after a recommendation from Wally Amos, a mutual friend through their producer, Tom Wilson. Simon, then 25, felt he had finally "made it" into an upper echelon of rock and roll, while most importantly retaining artistic integrity ("making him spiritually closer to Bob Dylan than to, say, Bobby Darin", wrote biographer Marc Eliot). Following another release, Sounds of Silence (1965), the duo recorded and released Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme (1966), which brought new critical and commercial success to the duo. Simon & Garfunkel first became prominent on American radio in 1965 with their record " The Sound of Silence", which became a hit during a period in which the duo had broken up due to the failure of their debut release, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. The album has continued to receive critical acclaim and is often debated by critics as to whether it or Bridge Over Troubled Water is Simon & Garfunkel's best album. Bookends was considered a breakthrough for the duo, placing them on the same level as artists such as Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and The Rolling Stones at the forefront of the countercultural movement in the 1960s. The album sold well in the US and in the United Kingdom, where it peaked at number one. Initial sales for Bookends were substantial in the US, and the album produced the number-one single " Mrs. The album was recorded gradually over the period of a year, with production speeding up around the later months of 1967. Much of the material was crafted alongside producer John Simon (no relation), who joined the recording when Paul Simon suffered from writer's block. Simon's lyrics concern youth, disillusionment, relationships, old age, and mortality. Side two largely consists of previously-released singles and of unused material for The Graduate soundtrack. Side one of the album marks successive stages in life, the theme serving as bookends to the life cycle. The duo had risen to fame two years prior with the albums Sounds of Silence and Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme and the soundtrack album for the 1967 film The Graduate.īookends is a concept album that explores a life journey from childhood to old age. Produced by Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel and Roy Halee, the album was released on April 3, 1968, in the United States by Columbia Records. Bookends is the fourth studio album by American folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel. It is made from phosphors such as silver-activated zinc sulfide or doped strontium aluminate, and typically glows a pale green to greenish-blue color. Phosphorescent paint is commonly called "glow-in-the-dark" paint. Both types of paints have extensive application where artistic lighting effects are desired, particularly in "black box" entertainments and environments such as theaters, bars, shrines, etc. Such a "black out" effect will minimize other awareness, so cultivating the peculiar luminescence of UV fluorescence. Since patterns painted with this type are invisible under ordinary visible light, they can be used to create a variety of clever effects.īoth types of fluorescent painting benefit when used within a contrasting ambiance of clean, matte-black backgrounds and borders. Invisible fluorescent paints appear transparent or pale under daytime lighting, but will glow under UV light. Visible fluorescent paint also has ordinary visible light pigments, so under white light it appears a particular color, and the color just appears enhanced brilliantly under black lights. Fluorescent paints are best viewed in a darkened room.įluorescent paints are made in both 'visible' and 'invisible' types. It has a dark blue filter material on the bulb which lets the invisible UV pass but blocks the visible light the bulb produces, allowing only a little purple light through. So viewing fluorescent paint requires a longwave UV light which does not emit much visible light. The painted surface also reflects any ordinary visible light striking it, which tends to wash out the dim fluorescent glow. Human eyes perceive this light as the unusual 'glow' of fluorescence. The fluorescent chemicals in fluorescent paint absorb the invisible UV radiation, then emit the energy as longer wavelength visible light of a particular color. Fluorescent paint is available in a wide range of colors and is used in theatrical lighting and effects, posters, and as entertainment for children. These UV wavelengths are found in sunlight and many artificial lights, but the paint requires a special black light to view so these glowing-paint applications are called 'black-light effects'.
